TREADBARE
Support with either jobs or benefits in short supply ahead of a vote on the DWP green paper.
The Disability sector is facing the unraveling of all policy gains since 1994:
By Access to Work six-month backlog being used to justify closure of the programme
By jeopardising enforcement by placing the EHRC under review by the trend to reduce civil servants being applied to the Office of Disability Issues
By disabled workers being forced out of jobs by the changes in Access to Work the job losses in the charity sector e.g. Scope and the absence of good practice by our own Government
By the absence of a challenge to President rump's reversing of positive discrimination
By the shift to employers responsibility alone possibly paving the way for not needing a Government Minister for disabled people or a department.
By leading the retreat on attitudes it softens up public opinion for more extreme attitudes to come
The cuts in PIP entitlement appear likely to happen at the same time as the support is diminished. Our welfare clearly depends upon defeating the green paper on disability.
